It’s Time to Travel! This book is a complete guide covering everything you’ll need to travel with confidence in today’s world. It contains key information and new insights, useful for both the neophyte and the experienced Boomer traveler (and non-Boomers, too!). You’ll easily find lists of travel tips and a multitude of sources to tell you costs and “where to go.” Here we give you an easy to read “how to go.” It contains useful information to help you enjoy each trip and get the most from your travels, wherever you go around the globe. For those of us in the Boomer generation, about 35 million plus, there is much more time for extensive travels as our responsibilities for kids, school, and day jobs are diminishing. Compared to previous generations, Americans today are better educated, in better shape (okay, there may be a few weight issues!), with more disposable income and a higher life expectancy. So, now, our generation, the acknowledged workaholics of the world, can begin to sample the delights of world travel. You’ll learn how to plan, get your documents together, and get fit for travel. How to think about insurance, put your finances on auto-pilot, and rest assured that your house and belongings are safe while you’re traveling. How to avoid losing luggage, keep yourself safe and healthy on the road, maximize your travel dollars and have fun shopping around the world. After reading this book you’ll be ready to circle the in today’s world. It contains key information and new insights, useful for both the neophyte and the experienced Boomer traveler (and non- globe globe confidently with all the know-how of a seasoned traveler. In italicized paragraphs we’ve illustrated many of our points with real-life situations that you, too, may well encounter while traveling. We cover the good, the bad and the ugly, in an effort to help you avoid problems and have a better travel experience. We’ve made the mistakes, now you don’t have to. We highlight key points as we go along, and list the more important ones for easy reference at the end of each chapter under the heading “Memory Joggers.” If you’re getting ready to travel soon we suggest you read the first seven chapters. These early chapters cover the key points to get you ready to go, while the remaining chapters transition to actual travel. Wherever and whenever you choose to get on the road, the things we’ve learned and share about traveling today will ease your transition from a tied-down working Boomer to a savvy, confident world traveler. Let’s travel!
